Omega.MSSQL

What is Omega.MSSQL? Omega.MSSQL is a browser based application to manage Microsoft SQL Server.

When will Omega.MSSQL be available for download? Well the wait is over. Omega.MSSQL is now available for download. Please visit the products download section to download your copy of Omega.MSSQL. It's fast, it's easy and it's free!!!

What can I currently do with Omega.MSSQL? With the latest release, we have added a feature which will allow you to design most of the database objects. These objects include Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, Roles, Rules, Users, Defaults, User Defined Data Types, User Defined Types, Schemas, Synonyms, Database Triggers, User Defined Table Types and Plan Guides. Apart from that you can view the objects (Tables, views, columns, stored procedures etc.) in your SQL Server database, document these objects (i.e. what is the business value of these objects), search for database objects, run a report on your database objects and query your database.

What will I need to run Omega.MSSQL? In order to run Omega.MSSQL on the server, you will need the following:
- A web server running Microsoft IIS (Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, Windows Vista)
- .Net Framework 2.0 (If it is not already installed, you can download it from Microsoft downloads).

Omega.MSSQL users will need only the Internet Explorer browser. They will not have to install anything on their PCs to run Omega.MSSQL and access SQL Server databases.

Can I create/modify/delete database objects (e.g. tables, views etc.) using Omega.MSSQL now? Yes, you can now create/alter/drop Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, Roles, Rules, Users, Defaults, User Defined Data Types, User Defined Types, Schemas, Synonyms, Database Triggers, User Defined Table Types and Plan Guides using Omega.MSSQL. Apart from that you can create/modify/delete other database objects if you are familiar with T-SQL programming. You can write the T-SQL code in the Omega.MSSQL Query Builder and execute it from there. We are enhancing Omega.MSSQL to add designer capabilities for other types of database objects in the coming versions.

How is Omega.MSSQL licensed? Omega.MSSQL is licensed per SQL Server. You can connect to as many databases hosted in one SQL Server using one Omega.MSSQL license. There is no restrictions on the number of web servers you install Omega, provided they contain a valid license key. Furthermore one license key can contain more than one SQL Server.

Is Omega.MSSQL a replacement for SQL Server Management Studio? No. Omega.MSSQL a not a replacement for SQL Server Management Studio. Functionality provided in Omega.MSSQL is a subset of the functionality provided by Management Studio. We have carefully chosen the functionality which are most useful for "Non-DBA" kind of users who want to interact with the database but do not want to perform administration tasks. That's why you will not see system objects (system tables, views etc.) in Omega.MSSQL. Furthermore we have added some functionality which is currently not there in Management Studio namely the Reporting capability and search capability.

I have some suggestions/questions regarding Omega.MSSQL. How can I communicate those to you? We are always open to new suggestions which improve our product offering. Please use the "Contact Us" functionality to send us your suggestions/feedback or you can send us an email at

Omega.SDSClient

Omega.SDSClient is discontinued. Omega.SDSClient product is discontinued. This is done in light of a change in Microsoft's strategy regarding SQL Data Services (SDS) where they moved from an ACE (Authority, Container, and Entity) model to a relational database model in the cloud.

If you wish to connect to your SQL Azure databases using Internet Explorer, please read the following blog post:
